I've just extended the inside of a WRC window with WRC to make an interior windowsill - I wanted the wood to match. I'd like advice on the finish.
First I hadn't realized how soft WRC is and I'm thinking a polyurethane varnish might make it a bit more scratch/knock resistant. Is that right?
Second the original frame is a tad darker, despite being sanded vigorously. What's the best way to darken the new WRC, or at least make them match. It is just a shade, I want to alter the color as little as possible and my experience with stains has been all bad.
