I have been making a few (64) pieces of wooden train track, a-la Thomas the Tank Engine type for my son, in varying sizes and shapes.
The pieces have been made from 12mm MDF.
I am wondering how best to finish these, ie wax and polish or lacquer, or is there a better alternative ?
I would like to achieve a 'sealed' finish, smooth to the touch.

Soren, I would probably go the Poly-U route myself.. or even start off with a coat of sanding sealer then the Poly-U.

That is only if you wanted a clear finish. If you wanted a painted finish, sealer, undercoat and a good oil based paint can not fail.

Coat the cut edges in diluted PVA glue, seals the edges much cleaner than sanding sealer
