Traditional wax

Can anyone advise if Beaut Traditional wax has a shelve life.
Mine is a few years old now and does not seem to buff out like it used to and now leaves streaks behind.

It's you that's not buffing out evenly. If it's still soft and hasn't got a sort of semi transparent jelly on the top of it there won't be a problem. If it does have that then it's melted down in the shed and the turpentine has come to the surface. Simply warm it and stir till it begins to thicken slightly then allow to cool.

This can be done in the microwave by giving short 10 second bursts and leaving it sit for 30 seconds, continue till liquid then cool with stirring.

If there are streaks it's a fair bet that this is the problem. It needs to be kept cool all year round. The inside of a shed can reach as much as 50C+ on a hot day, enough to easily separate most waxes.

If it's hard then it will work beautifully so long as you buff it off with clean soft cloth that is constantly being turned to present new cloth to the work. This will stop the cloth becoming loaded with the wax and continuing to lay down new wax that will streak.

Either that or get yourself a Swansdown Mop (http://www.ubeaut.com.au/sdmops.htm) if you don't already have one. Even with a mop you should always finish off with a light buff from a soft clean cloth.

and whats the best cloth you reakon for applying wax. or don't it matter ?..just any old rag ?

Old worn our cotton t-shirts or sheets are the go as far a I know, steer away from ribbed cotton

It has been left in a hot shed or similar and melted, the white jel is turpentine and the softer waxes beeswax and paraffin. Yes you can give it the same treatment but need to keep stirring (after it's melted )until the mix starts to really thicken or the abrasive will just drop out of the mix again as it has now.
