We paid about $450 last year for a camera inspection when the sewer pipe got blocked. Guy was here for about hour and a half.

most plumbers have a equipement fee then their hourly rate... eg. plumber in sydney will cost 75 up to 85 dollars per hour. but the equipement my have a "flagfall" of say $250 . dont forget there is also a minimum call out fee which may be $200...and that will cover you for 5min up to 2 .5 hours.
this is all standard charging that most trades have. so i guess the trick is ask for a quote first then make the desicion to do it. mind you the price you have said is not rare.
hope this helps

Hi,
If you're only interested sewer related inspections try getting a price from one of the companies that specialise in cleaning blocked sewers and such. We had one last year to clear a blocked sewer and they were cheaper than a regular plumber.
Cheers
