Good Evening Friends,
If a cubic foot of concrete weighs 150 pounds, how much does a yard of concrete weigh?

Respectfully, :)

Geoff,

I guess the question mark is that you calculated the amount required for your yard.

The real answer is that it depends on the size of the yard, and whether you wanted it all concreted, or do you want to leave some areas free for the zucchini patch. Sometimes you can achieve a very homely effect by concreting the lot, then filling tractor tyres with soil (painted to suit your exterior decor) and planting your favourite vegetable or fruit in the centre.

A discarded Automobile grill when stood on end can make an attractive trellis on to which choko or broad bean vines can be trained.

Cheers,

P

You may also want some left over to make those huge Roman columns that are used to support everthing from the roof load to a bird bath. :)

3 x 3 x 3 x 150 = 4050 lbs

I have a mate with a bobcat and mini excavator and he reckon's he's "going Italian". He's bought a concrete mixer attachment for the bobcat (it's a 1 bag mix, about 1/8th of a M3). So he's concreting his yard. Living as he does on a five acre block he's mixed up about 20 tons of concrete so far and still hasn't covered his yard. Luckily he's got his own gravel pit!

Geez Mick, that's just not going Italian.

That's going the whole of Italy!

Good Evening Friends,
Tonz is correct as there are indeed 27 cubic feet in a yard of concrete and that X 150 in indeed 4050 pounds.

I like many of you concreted my yard and painted it green so I wouldn't have to mow but, the darned kids kept using it as a skating rink for their inline skates.

I ripped it up and replanted grass seed. Then a fellow told me I should get my wife a riding lawn mower, about the time I was passing a field of sheep and I asked him, "do you think I could get a saddle to fit one of those things?"

Thanks for your support.

Respectfully, :)

But in New Zealand the sheep have rubber boots on their back legs.
