Good Evening Friends,
We are going to build a gazebo with 6 sides and the inscribed diameter is 12'.

What would be the length of the sides and what would be the degree of angle on the band boards?

Respectfully, :)

Ralph, is this not the same as your quiz of the 25th of May?
See http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com.au/showthread.php?t=8987 for the answer. :D

Peter.

That was a circumcised diameter, Peter.

Thanks Robert, I see I got mixed up. It seemed so similar.

In anycase it does not matter to me whether it is inscribed or circumcised as long as the knife is not near me. :D

Good Evening Friends,
Here is a little secret. When dealing with polygons with a 12' diameter whether it is a circumscribed or inscribed diameter the inches by each figure of the sides become feet.

So for todays quiz the correct answer is 6' 9 5/16" for each side of the gazebo.

If those of you who missed the information of the octagon scales or polygon scales would go back a few threads you will find them and print them out for future use. should you not find them just email me and I will attach them to your email reply. Guaranteed virus free.

Thank you all for your support.

Respectfully, :)

Hi Ralph,
Here is another little secret....

Not trying to be too smart about this but it is the second time you have converted a decimalised imperial measurement into feet and inches incorrectly....

As per your previously attached table, the answer is 6.9262 feet.

This DOES NOT = 6 feet + 9 inches + 0.0262 inches ( i.e 6' 9 5/16" as stated by yourself)

It equals 6 feet + 0.9262 feet

multiply 0.9262 x 12" = 11.1144"

This therefore equals 6 feet + 11.1144 inches. (i.e 6 11 1/8" as stated by me)
