Hello to all,
My name is Scott and I live in Caboolture just north of Brisbane.

I have joined this site because I hope to revisit my old woodworking hobby.

If anyone gets to visit Tasmania and you appreciate carving, then you must take time out to treat yourself to some of the most beautiful artwork you could ever hope to see.
The name of the gallery is "The Wall" and it's located in the central highlands, a small town called Derwent Bridge. Let's know what you think.

hi scott, and welcome. the only thing i remember about derwent bridge in '96 is this huge open fireplace in the pub. after riding some 3 hours in early july from the west coast, everything frozen up to everywhere, the radiant heat was a blessing. mind you it took a few hours to thaw so we sampled the local brew and produce while there. ended up at the oldest pub in Oz @ new norfolk. great sticks down them parts.

You picked the right time of year. There was snow on the ground when I was there too.
The gallery hasn't been there long, around two years maybe.

G'day Scot from Caboolture and welcome to the best place to be .:2tsup::2tsup::2tsup:

All over Tasie there is wonderful work but I think that The Wall in The Wilderness takes the cake. I t has actually bee there for longer than you think. I was there about 3 years ago and was fortunate enough to observe the carver at work and have a bit of a chat with him.It is a huge project and truly beautiful. Everyone should try to get there.

I thought the wall was a good works.
I was dissapointed as very little had been done to it after being featured in Outback magazine a year earlier.
