I hear Costco is coming to Australia and was interested if they will bring over some American Brands Such as Delta or Portacable.
Here is the website http://www.costco.com/Home.aspx?cm_re=1_en-_-Top_Left_Nav-_-Top_logo&lang=en-US
Thanks :?:U

It is unlikely they will bring American tools to OZ, unless they can be produced and sold in sufficient quantities to OZ standards (i.e., 240V, etc.). They may bring some American products that are non-electrical, but are much more likely to cover many of the brands already available but at a lower price point.
Their tool selection is minimal already, and it has been declining in recent years. I think they found that it is too difficult to please the tool-buying public with a limited selection of brands and tool types. Having said that, you can pick up a real bargain if you visit often, as their selection changes all the time and you may hit them on a day when your needs and their offerings are aligned.
BTW, I am a big Costco fan (not affiliated with them) for their food, wine, and other everyday products offerings as well as high-quality consumer goods (electronics, e.g.) at good prices.:)

yeah looking at the website there doesn't seem to be a great selection of tools.....but on the plus side while your there, you could always prepare for the inevitable and get yourself a coffin (http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11066234&whse=BC&Ne=4000000&eCat=BC%7C20595&N=4008004&Mo=5&No=0&Nr=P_CatalogName:BC&cat=23078&Ns=P_Price%7C1%7C%7CP_SignDesc1&lang=en-US&Sp=C&topnav=) :o

I've noticed that Aldi have picked up the brand name 'Delta' in Australia - since the B&D conglomerate have stopped sending their product to Oz, under our laws that puts the brand name up for grabs, first in to register gets the name if there is no active business, and if they stop using it then it becomes available again.
On the 240 (220) volt line, several Porter Cable hand held machines can be set to run on single phase 220 volts - the biscuit joiner for starters as I have one. My Jet drill press & table saw also came with the instructions to convert between 110 & 220 volts. So it would be a matter of checking which models comply & then having them certified for local use - the certifying is the $$$ killer.

Aldi sell a line of general products as well as food. Cheap tools (think Supercheap), cheap small furniture, etc. Mostly junk, at least over here.
