I thought this was the most appropriate place to post this thread ( if not, mods please feel free to place it in a more fitting category.)

I have been employed as a Picture Framer (under the 819 Furnishings Award) for over a year now (in Sydney) and am concerned I am not getting the correct pay and/or holidays/benefits. I have checked out the NSW awards website but cannot make heads nor tails of what category I fall under within the 819 award and what I should be getting paid.

I am of mature age (21+) and hold no trade qualifications (but have worked fulltime for over a year) so where does this put me?

Cheers to anyone who can shed some light on this! :U

As far as I know when working in a trade you must either be paid as a tradesperson or engaged as an apprentice. However employers can get around this by claiming you are a trades assistant or labourer. If you're not assisting anyone though, that arguement doesn't hold up. In Qld it's possible to ring up the office of the industrial inspector (or whatever it's called now) and get the details of the award which you should be paid under. In Qld it's also neccessary for employers to have a current copy of the relevant award(s) on site and made accessible to employees. It may be different in your state.
