Hi all, I want to order a soldering iron from gasweld for leadlight work, I have been told that weller irons are very good, so have narrowed the search down to the WLC80D weller 5-80watt variable heat station or the W100D 100 watt temp controlled iron. As this is my first go at leadlight, I don't know which would be best. I would much appreciate input on these or any other recommended iron's, thank you.
Stephen

A temp controlled iron may be overkill if you are only doing small amounts. In fact in our business we only use a basic weller 80 watt or a similar chinese 80 watt we sell for leadlight. We do use 100-150 watts for other work but 80 watts is the minimum power you really want for general leadlighting and a temp controller only reduces the amount of available heat, so unless you are doing a lot of very small work I wouldn't bother. My 2 cents.
