Triton .....

Actually one of my house mates when I first left home had a Triton, which was painted silver with a blue frame. Triumph 650 engine as I recall in a Norton "featherbed" frame. In the days when three and four cylinder motorbikes were just coming onto the scene, (The first Kawasaki triple would have been called a "widowmaker", but no one who rode one lived long enough to get married), they were the duck's nuts.

An engineering student at what was then the Queensland Institute of Technology went one better and built a "Nortina". Same Norton frame, but with a turbocharged Cortina GT motor....hard to see let alone keep up with.

Where's the connection to this forum you ask?

Well, what WOODEN
I have given to have owned one of them.

Tritons used to rule!!! :D :D :D

Cheers,

P

What were we talking about in the first place????

Oh yeah, CYCLONES - those things can suck up a Triton in a minute :D :D :D

Bob Willson
29th May 2004, 07:44 PM
He fitted a Cortina 1500cc motor into a motor bike frame? And the GT version at that? My brother had a Cortina GT when they first came out, they were hot then and they would still take a bit of beating even now.

Bob Willson

Never mind how long it takes a Triton to suck, those Cortinas were great. I wouldn't mind mind having one today. In fact, cars haven't really improved all that much over the last 20 or 30 years.

Also, you guys, lets get back on topic.... I don't think the 6" duct is big enough to suck up a Cortina (what kinda wood is that btw). Also, have you read my post re the Dust Collection articles ??? :p

A Cortina would fit in a 6" duct, but WOODEN go down the spiral in the cyclone.

No, tell it us.

Bob
Can't.
It's too politically incorrect and rude and poor would have to censure me(no I don't mean censor :D ) and delete the whole post. Sorry I mentioned it, but it's to do with guys telling their girl, wife, lover etc that 6" is the length of a certain body part, so women always get measurements wrong as a result of believing what they're told ;)

Bob Willson
30th May 2004, 07:57 PM
Ah, now I remember it. I just didn't associate with Cortinas, I thought that it was to do with VWs. and Porches

Nope - the owner is not a spring chicken but most of the tools are (except for the small collection in the cabinet)

6" is the length of a certain body part

I seem to remember making an observation about that in the thread on metric measurements, and how I've never seen body parts measured in mm although I did have a neighbour once (true story) who had both his lower legs amputated as a result of diabetes and told everyone that he had gone metric:- "no feet".

Now look, I don't mind slipping you greenies, but everytime someone gives you a blue, I have to burn another 20 green (I don't do blue) till I can counteract it.....AHHHH I'm going to be here all night!

OK I know, I can only give away ten a day, so it'll be THREE days till I can get back.

Hang on Stinky....I'm comingggggg!!! :)

I saw this inspirational speaker once, his surname was Curtis, who had no legs and he told everyone how the chicks loved him-he was the only guy they knew -who would never walk out on them and whose willy reached the ground when he was standing up. :D
