G'day guys,
I wanted some advice on building a sandpit shaped like a dinghy for my son.
What would be the best outdoor wood to use?
Are there any plans around the place?
Has anyone done it before?
Any help would be great.

G'day 4him. Welcome to the abode of those with experience, knowledge and opinions.:2tsup::2tsup::2tsup:
I would suggest a marine or exterior grade ply as this can be bent to shape.Edges will need to be well sealed. Make a cover for the whole thing or you will experience cat problems, ala Ed.

I was thinking ply as well as its a lot of bending unless you want to steam it.

hi, i had a boat sandpit years ago for my girls but i used an old timber row boat and stabled it in the ground and then put beach sand around it and in it. part of the side was cut out so the kids could access in and out of the boat safely. it was the best outdoor toy they had - pity teenagers dont play in sand pits anymore.
old timber row boats are probly hard to come by now but years ago i found word of mouth got me mine........good luck with whichever way you go :2tsup:

I'd use some ACQ treated pine palings.
Pick out ones that are totally knot and pith free
Soak them in water first then hold it all together with stakes.
