This week's spelling hint.
i before e except after c
eg 1. believe
2. receive
or when sounded as ay as in neighbour or weigh
.....
I want to know what happened to their? ;)

Ahhh, but Cliff, it IS pronounced "thayur"! At least, it is by us Scots :)
On a similar vein, we also have 3 different pronounciations for "law", "lore" and "lower" which the guys I used to work with in England couldn't even say, never mind spell.

Grunt, think of it as less of a science and more of a random lottery and it will make much more sense!
