Here's something I've never understood. If I buy a light fitting and it says on it that it is rated for a maximum of 60 watts, does this mean that I can run a (say) 20 watt energy-saver bulb - which should be equivalent to a 100 watt incandescent in terms of light output. I understand that I shouldnt put an incandescent bulb of greater then 60 watt rating in it, but surely the energy-saver is still drawing only 20 watts and therefore is no threat ???
Is this right ?
thanks
