View Full Version : What should we do?

Our yard slopes from back to front and the ground on the back side of the house is about half way up the ground floor back brick wall. On the other side of this wall is our garage. It has mould and seems to have dampness coming up the walls about 5cms when rain etc.

The ground against the back wall is concreted.

From what I have read, to fix the mould/water issue, we would need to dig through the concrete at the back of the house and down to below the bottom of the wall (which would be about 2 metres down I guess)...and then seal wall and lay ag pipe etc.

Does this sound like the normal course of action considering how high the ground is against the back of the garage wall? To dig that deep?

The other part of the house next to the garage is (dont know correct lingo) accessable.eg. dirt with posts holding the house up but enclosed.

Is another option that we dig a trench in the dirt under the accessable part of the house and drain in there since the ground level under there is already lower and therefore less to dig?

Many thanks.
