Are others have strange problems of having to log-in to every page of the Board they try to enter? I won't be surprised if it's me alone - my computer has been "playing" for weeks.:?

I only find it is a problem when I follow a link to another thread and go to look at an attachment in that link it comes up and says that I am not logged in and requires me to log in again to view the attachment.

Have you got your cookies turned on?
masoth

Not 3rd party cookies, Barry. However it's been recent that I moved away from IE to Firefox and since failed to find 'cookies' after you asked.

Soth similar troubles here
I have found as you have need to sign into the other web sites to see photo's its has been a pain for a while.
I changed my main sign on page to the other and it got worse :~ so I changed back
What I did find strangest was if I loaded photo's up in say www.woodworkfoums.com.au it would come up when the notification came in the next time in www.u-bueat.com.au now that shouldn't happen.

Soth, sounds like you've got it set not to accept cookies, Click on Tools from the very top bar the scroll down to Options, a new window should pop up on your screen, hit Privacy from the top of that box and then scroll down to where it says cookies and check that the Accept cookies from sites is ticked, and whilst you're there, check the Exceptions on the right to see if you've blocked this site from cookies

To set your cookies in Firefox go to Tools, Options then privacy and that is where you set the cookies.

But why when I enter into a thread in woodorkforums and notifications comes in the next morning or down the track its in u-beaut, cookies have nothing to do with that at all. :?

Ah, you're talking about email notifications.
I think you'll find they come with the URL that you happened to be signed in under at the time of subscribing to the thread.

DJ I think I just worked it out  not my fault or soths if a member is signed into the other forum it then gets transferred to that one
ie:- say I put a thread up through woodwork forum another member then replies through u-beauts it then is stored under it.
Trouble is this shouldn't happen as they should be siging in to the main thread where ever it has been done.

You may start off logged in on the wwf.com url but if you follow a link which takes you to a wwf.ubeaut.com.au url and you log on there and then post a reply from there of which you subscribed to, then you get the email notification as a wwf.ubeaut.com.au one.
When you're browsing the site and following links from posts, take a note of the address in the navigation bar.

Ater reading each of the new posts to this page I clicked "reply" and up came the message to log in - of course I am logged in. Tools/options has accept cookies ticked, and not to accept 3rd party cookies, the exceptions box is empty.
This is more a frustratioon then anything but when busy it really 'gets up my nose!!

Try turning on 3rd party parties Soth, see if that makes a difference , I've got mine on.
The only other thing I can think off is that you've got a corrupt Firefox Browser or its got some missing code, maybe do an uninstall, restart the computer and then re-download and install it again.
You're using a Mac ain't you? Maybe you downloaded the other operating system by mistake.

You shouldn't need to if you've got Accept cookies from sites checked but you'd want these 3

DJ just so I can try clear this up a little.
If I start a thread put in pics etc send it to the forum under www.woodworkforum. After I have signed out for the day all coockies are cleared on shut down, 3rd party cookies has always been turned off on mine. The next morning sign back in to the same www.woodworkforum. I then open "Today's Posts" this is my usual practice.
Then
My e-mails come in with subscribed notifications the thread I put up the day before has come in with additional posts. I click on it and often I am having to sign into the other www.U-beauts. This can get real annoying especially if in a hurry to review and rush out, other wise I have been signing in and just putting up with it.
I have noticed even if I am on all day if a member has replied in the opposite www.site and I have not signed into it I then have to.:? even if its just text.
I believe the problem arises that there are two repositories for the forums one for U-beaut and one for WWF its not a hassle until you need to see whats been attached pdf's dont seem to have the same problem just the images and photo's.:whatonearth:
I found this started happening when the Forum did and update and about the same time Firefox did and update, Firefox had about 3 updates since that time.

Well there isn't anything I can do about which server the email comes from, but if you turn off the clear cookies on shut down, you won't have this problem, you'll stay logged on on all the URLs once you've logged in.
There is no way around the viewing problem associated with the different URLs unless we turn the view attachments by all back on or someone wants to move everything from all the URLs onto just the one URL and go through all the posts and change all the links to the one URL.
So you'll either have to put up with it and log on for each url as the need arises or don't clear your cookies.

I found this started happening when the Forum did and update and about the same time Firefox did and update, Firefox had about 3 updates since that time.
And that'd be about the same time that Neil turned off Can view Attachments for those not logged on/unregistered as there was a large amount of people who weren't registered coming on downloading images, PDFs of which adds up to the load on the servers and never coming back.
This has been all said before by Neil, I know this, cause I searched for that post by Neil yesterday and reread it, I'll see if I can find it again.

Found it (http://www.woodworkforums.com/showthread.php?t=49328&highlight=forum), and it's the same thing all over that we're talking about here.
But in that case Neil turned the View Attachments back on not long after that cause he got sick and tired of everyone whinging about the fact that they couldn't see the attachments cause they weren't logged on.

DJ many thanks yes I recall the old thread and hassles.
I know what man hours it would take to rename and store eveything and then link it all.
One way around it could be if the New Albums area is all under one banner linked to all 3 www.sites and members store photo's there linking to the threads would this be easier except for those less computer literate.

This is certainly the answer.
I logged into all three forum URL's and I have my cookies set to "keep cookies till they expire"
and then all the pictures show up whenever I click on any links that go to one of the other URL's.
I don't have any other problems whatsoever.

As Barry said "................. I have my cookies set to "keep cookies till they expire" .......", I too, have now done this and have at least not had a problem this time. I am not convinced moviing from URL to URL is the problem but I'm happy to wait and see. Certainly whatever the thing is it's only on this Board.
Many thanks to all,

I think the fact that the WWF has three URL's is the main problem and it depends on which one the poster has logged in with it causes the viewer if he is logged in on one of the others and has never logged in the one the poster is posting in and then hasn't ticked the Remember Me box even if he has logged in before and if the cookies are cleared each time you log out the problem will always exist.
You really only have log into each forum once ever and have the cookies operating and tick the Remember Me box.
