OK , why was this thread of mine moved ?
I am a wood turner , from New Zealand , a member of this forum for a year or more , and I have let my fellow turners know that I am here in the Brisbane , Australia , area for a while .
Please have the good manners to restore this thread to the correct place , Woodturning General

Pity about the downturn as far as work goes.
I see the Qld dam has been put on hold ... might put my brother in an awkward spot as technical concrete advisor to one of the bidding consortiums.

There seems to be a fair swag of building going on here , unfortunately the big jobs are a fair distance away in the city center.
I don't have a wagon as yet , and I only have me hammer and nailbag with me , to work on my brother's place :rolleyes:
The local house site seem to have been deserted , due to the storm damage repair work in town .
Road construction is big out this way , maybe I should take up my shovel and walk :U

Yeah, done that :sweatdrop: - on the last Snowy hydro power station.
Liked TA better (Brisbane, Gladstone, Rocky) and dogman/crane chaser best (Westernport Bay).

Yeah, look pretty young for being dead ;-}
I had to work 4 months of the year to help put myself through uni. The allowance from the pater wasn't enough.
First was T3 (Tumut, Snowies). Started on the concrete gang and graduated to helping the chippies with formwork.
Then TA and dogman on a tank farm on Westernport. Came close to spitting the dummy on uni and going for a rigger's ticket.
After that, mostly TA to welders: Brissie gas line, Gladstone power station, pipe factory in Rocky.
Good times. Yum, XXXX off the wood at the Breakfast Ck hotel ;-}
Good education as well (excluding the asbestos).

Aye , that the good thing about the big jobs , in town or country . A cross section of folk , from all around the world .
I wheeze a bit nowdays , asbestos when I was a lad , fiberglass insulation now .
Plus dust and fungi spore from doing renovations on old buildings .
Still and all , I do all right :U

Damn Jock.
Asbestos latency period is about 25 years ... hope you're lucky.
We have a good law firm down south for asbestos claims. Hope I'm lucky :-{
