Hello all

Mickthetree from England here. Already read some of the great posts on this site. Hope to see you all around the forum.

I have collected boxes and tinkered with woodwork for some years. Then someone said. Why dont you make some boxes. So I have! They are pretty rough so far, but I really enjoy soaking all of this new information in. I have read a ton of books and spend as much time as I can in the workshop. I'm purely using hand tools at the moment and starting a class in February.

All the best

Mickthetree

Thanks all for the kind welcome. Summer Jerry? I wish.

Well since saying that I would put up some photos of my first efforts I have seen more of the work on here. Especially that "beginners boxes section"!! Very good work!

My meagre efforts (practises) dont stand up to much, but here you go.

I have made a shooting board (http://www.flickr.com/photos/mickthetree/3024064427/in/set-72157608935186068/) and donkeys ear mitre box (http://www.flickr.com/photos/mickthetree/3024892738/in/set-72157608935186068/) with some help from the guys on "getwoodworking.com" here in the UK and have managed to get some pretty tight mitres (http://www.flickr.com/photos/mickthetree/3024064199/in/set-72157608935186068/)in my first effort. I had a go at some dovetails (http://www.flickr.com/photos/mickthetree/3024064261/in/set-72157608935186068/)too. The wood I'm using is quite thin 1/4" and I think it might be better to practise on some thicker stuff.

I bought a copy of the book of boxes yesterday on ebay for 4 quid. Another one to add to the heaving shelf.

Well plenty more to read and look at on here.

Catch up with you all on the forum!!

Mick...IMHO the only time that "things don't stand up to much" is if one never even attempts to try!!

Your doing well, mate:2tsup:
