Just for fun and curiosity, I Googled the headline ["woman spotted yesterday reading today's paper"]. Got several discussion forums, with a heap of opinions. The strongest seems to source it in Stockholm a few years ago.
It looks like a recursion of some sort, e.g. via PhotoShop, particularly tricky because of the warped receiving window. I sent an email to a neighbour, a video producer, with the Google suggestion. His company slogan is something like "Saving clients from bad video since 19XX." He has a studio with an entire room in chroma-key green, and claims he can put anyone anywhere. They're on holiday for a few days, so I won't get feedback (Ha! How's that for irony?) until Tuesday or Wednesday.
