G'day all. This is my first post here. I have been lurking for some weeks and want to thank everybody for this great site.
We have had to leave the farm to our eldest so that we shall be near an hospital and I am slowly fitting out a very small workshop beside the house. We left all the tools on the farm apart from a few old nd prized hand-tools and, last week, I went to Bunnings to look at an Ozito circular saw. I decided not to buy then but, leaving the tools, I saw a Makito at about $126 which I bought as Makito have served well for some years.
Unpacking the saw, I was disappointed to see it was made in China, too!
My question is: what do Boarders think about the quality of Ozito tools when used only by an old and, therefore, occasional user, please?

Hi Old farmer, good to have you on the forum. I have a couple of Ozito tools, yes the ones that only get occassional use. I have a 250mm angle grinder which I have used quite a bit now, it's rough and sounds bad, leaks oil from around the gearbox but still does the job. I also bought a small battery drill just for light workshop use but it didn't cut the mustard so I passed it onto my son and bought a small Bosh which is going well. I have a few GMC pieces which seem to be more gutsy than the Ozito and I think half a step up but Bosh I think are quite good value at the moment for a better standard of occasional use tools. Or try and buy better brand second hand tools on ebay, garage sales, local markets etc Good luck

Hi there. I have an ozito drill. I was surprised that it have a 12 month garentee even though it was only $29. But I can't find it at the mo.:C Why can't they invent a tool that doesn't get lost?:rolleyes:

Claw Hama, for some reason, I have never been a fan of Bosch but, as you write, they do appear to be good value. Shall look at them closely.

I value your hint about e-bay etc.

I am 78 so the work wil be light indeed.

tea lady, living with grandchildren as we are now has taught me that your drill will turn up immediately after your return from buying a replacement!

i'v bought a few of the cheepies gmc,ryobi. most of my power tools are makita,bosch.lloyd.
