Hi everyone,
What a great place to be! :)

I started woodworking 20 years ago with no knowledge apart from the Patrick Spielman books. Due to job changes, though, I stopped for about 8 years.

My expertise was limited (and still is! lol) to making pieces for folk artists, kiddies toys, and doing a little basic woodturning on the side, but it was a lot of fun.

However, I am now back into the sawdust again and loving it. Don't know how I could have left it! lol

Still hope to learn lots from you folks. Good to meet you all. :)

Hi Judy,

We all start from scratch and find our area of interest. I used to do a fair bit of wood turning but these days the urge to build furniture is greater. But the ability to turn is still very useful to me. You too will find the area that draws you most strongly and that is where the forum is so helpful. As for the forumites a crazy bunch , robust in argument but very heklpful

Welcome Judy!

You couldn't have picked a better book than Pat Spielman's.....he was very knowledgeable about woodworking and the properties of wood in general.

As you've no doubt already seen, there are a lot of knowledgable folks on this forum also (well, maybe a couple:doh::o:U) and, at times, it gets pretty insane!

So, enjoy and welcome back to woodworking.:2tsup:
