Came home last night about 9.45 went to go on and the message said upgrade in progress try again in 30 min
Came back a bit later and got on - had to log in again, now everytime i shut down firefox and then reopen i need to log in again.
has there been an upgrade that requires this or has someone changed something on my computer.
My kids are famous for "knowing" what i want when i'm not here.

and it seems to be even slower than it was before. And something weird happens when you try to edit posts. Kinda gets stuck. Click on "save" again and it works.

Hi there
I didn't need to re-login, both IE and FF worked fine.
Part of the update involved forcing users who used a password that was the same as their account username, to update their password to a more secure one. An example of this would be;
username: BillyBob
password: BillyBob
Not sure is this was the cause, but there are still over 300 users who still haven't updated theirs :2tsup:

How often do you clear your cookies? If you have your cookies cleared everytime you exit your web browser, then you will have to log back in here when you start your web browser again.
Just a thought.

And another thing too, is which URL are you signing onto, don't forget that you may need to sign into each URL if you follow links from threads. There is 3 different URL's remember.

I can't get it to remember me no matter which URL i use , both explorer or firefox. :( Is this a problem with individual computers or the website? It seems strange that so many of us are having the same problem all at the same time.

Hi guys
I was able to create a user account and remain logged in between sessions and computer reboots.
Some possible causes for not staying logged in are: browsers, browser settings, cookies being blocked, Internet and security settings, ISP and/or cache issues, firewalls, ad-blockers, spyware, proxies and any other application that affects Internet content.
The first place I would check is browser settings to make sure it isn't blocking cookies or removing cookies when its closed.
Then check settings in firewall and virus software like norton or whatever people use these days.

for the past 6 months since i have been using firefox i have clicked on bookmarks, woodwork forums and it has gone straight in and stayed logged in.
When i am finished i click on the red X in teh top right corner to close it down.
Since the other night everytime i go in i must log in. If i open another tab in the same program it is logged in, if i open firefox again while the first one is still open it is logged in but if i close firefox and reopen it again i am logged out.
Sounds as if the settingsd in my computer hve changed -

Yup. Recently when Firefox auto-updates the settings in the Privacy tab tend to screw up. :~ From rumblings on various sites I believe this is a widespread problem.
Follow DJ's instructions to 46150, then in the same menu check that "Always clear my private data when I close firefox" isn't ticked.
If it is, either untick it or click the "settings" button next to it an ensure "cookies" is unticked.

I have still got the problem. All the settings are as stated above. I always had a shortcut to the site and it always worked for me up until yesterday I think it was. I haven't changed any settings or made any changes to my computer so I don't think it is a computer problem. If it is, then it is strange it is happening to so many forumites computers. It's a pain in the neck to have to keep signing in.

PM received and have checked from my end and can reopen browser still logged in, so you may need to do a bit more checking JohnThanks for the help DJ. Your last suggestion seems to have fixed the problem .. I deleted everything in the browser options boxes as you said and then shut down and opened up and ticked the "remember me" box again and closed down again and I got back on without having to sign on. Keeping my fingers crossed. :)
Thanks again:2tsup:
