was just reading lcd / plasma debate and realised how much things have changed and what we take for granted my folks tv was a 12 in b/w pye bought in 56 and worked until the 70's and when we moved from melb to hicksville in the country pple oooh and \ahh at the b/w tv.
auto washing machines micro wave s etc i dont think there would be many pple that would want to live all the time with out theses sort of things but perhaps thats also why we have such huge personal dedt
as well a house with a bedroom for each kid and sometimes bathroom as well so no sharing and we wonder why pple dont get on with other pple
what examples are we setting for the kids

I shared a room with my brother for a bit and we fought like drunken Mackay night club goers (eg. at the drop of a hat.)

I'm still trying to work out why my dad put the lamp on top of the ol' HG Palmer! I heard recently that this was common behavior because of a fear that the television would damage your eyes. Now, let me see, the light from the tele is going to hurt your eyes so ... you put a lamp on top ... to stop the damage :?:?:?:?:? Any ideas?

My late Dad was born the same year as the Wright brothers' first flight, and IIRC his last plane ride was on a Boeing 747.

I think the lamp on the telly was to reduce contrast with the surroundings, so your eyes didn't have to work as hard; or something like that.
