G'day all,
Just a simple question, How come most posts with pix attached require you to click on to get them up to a viewable size but other posts have nice large pix in the text which are easily seen with no click required.
Just wondering as it would be great if I could set my machine so that all appear as the big pix type.
I am using a Mac by the way and No I don't want to get into a Mac v's PC debate. :U
If I have missed the answer to this my apologies in advance as I was unable to find any reference.
Regards,
Bob

I don't know the answer, but please don't post them too large as then the thread frames will not fit on the screen and the text must be scrolled laterally, which is a PITA.

The thumbnails are on the forums server and have to be under 100k to be attached. The bigger pics are hosted on another site (photobucket, etc.) and are embedded in the text

Easiest way to explain is that the ones that are in are in the large size are hosted out side the forum somewhere like photobucket etc, whereas the ones where you need to click are hosted on the forum, which by the way is the preferred method.

IIRC, a couple of my recent links to outside via text instead of browsing upload were also displayed as thumbnails. Either way, attachments to the forum are preferred, because outside links may go walkabout, and then show blank.

Used to e a mob similar to Photobucket a gew years ago that went west along with a whole heap of pics posted here. This left a massive hole in many posts.
There was a thread which was deleted for a few hours recently that had over 60 thumbnails in it and when it was reopened the thumbnails had all disappeared. This left a massive hole in that thread, so imagine hundreds if not thousands of threads like that in the forum if photobucket or some other third party storehouse goes down. Definitely not good.
If you have your own web site you can also link pics from there. But again. Many people with their own sites are pretty fickle and often change them so pics are lost again.

Some people can get them and some only get the large photos.

.It actually seems to be working OK today
