View Full Version : Where are my posts going

I have been away for about two months and notice some differences in the forum system. The first thing I noticed was that when I select "New Posts" I get a rolling 16 pages of posts. Previously I only received new posts since my last Log On. Whilst this has some nuisance value, I can learn to live with it. My real problem is that any post I respond to just disappears - I can no longer see it. This included threads that I start. If I track the particular post down by going a particular forum and select the thread in question, the last post will be mine. Even though I have an email notification that other posts have been made to the threadsince mine. What's going on. Do I really hve the kiss of death for a thread.

Having started this thread I will be able to see it until I make another post to it.

Hi
If you select "Quick Links - Mark forums read" you will only see the new posts from then.

A post you make does not appear in New Posts because it is not NEW because you read it.

Try "Quick Links - Todays posts"

Have a read of this sticky (http://www.woodworkforums.com/showthread.php?t=76239) by ubeaut for an explanation

Thanks Dave and DJ.

DJ first. From Neil's second entry I should have been able to see missing threads as soon as someone added to it. Did not happen. In fact, as I mentioned above, when I track the thread down by going to a particular forum as explicitly selecting it, the last post made by another is not visible.

Dave, I found Todays Posts OK via Quick Links.

Will have to play a bit more to see if problem can be better defined.

Misunderstood this bit first off, is this for all missing post or just one or two?

Can you give me a link to the thread that you say you've had a email notification for but cannot see the reply in the actual thread, quite possible that the posts may have been deleted by the original poster or by a Mod. If you can give me a link, I'll have a look into the history of the thread and see if we can work it out.

Thanks Dave and DJ.

Again can you provide some links to the threads you're talking about and I'll see if I can suss out what is happening.

You can obviously see the replies in this thread as you've questioned both Dave's and my replies

Ok I can see the post made by zelk and your reply to it :2tsup:

I'm assuming that you're talking about the missing reply from Woodlee that you cannot see? It was deleted by himself, otherwise all looks normal to me.

Thanks for your help DJ. I did not realise that I was hunting for a reply that had been deleted. I think my other issues may be related to the Sticky you directed me to. I will get back if it crops up again.

If woodlee reads this, thanks for your reply as the McJing is the sort of device I am loking for.
