Someone at Club heard of a oil used for french polish called Knochen ol (with a double hyphen over the o!). An old German cabinet maker was the source. Supposedly clear.
Anyone heard of this or know where to get this?

For what it's worth the word Knochen means bone in German so maybe it's bone oil but I seriouslyu doubt it as that stuff was almost black and smelled disgusting. I would think it's probably a persons name or brand name, and beinc clear I would hazard a guess at it being paraffin oil (mineral oil).
Parffin oil is often used for French polishing and is my favourite. There's no colour and it is a non drying oil which means you can walk away from the job without thaving to remove the oil off, come back a week or even a month later and pick up where you left off as it won't skin like linseed oil.
Hope this is of some help.
