.... does it take to change a light bulb?

- 1 to change the light bulb and to post to the list that the light bulb
has been changed.

- 14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light
bulb could have been changed differently.

- 7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs.

- 27 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light
bulbs.

- 53 to flame the spell checkers.

- 156 to write to the list administrator complaining about the light bulb
discussion and its inappropriateness to the forum.

- 41 to correct spelling in the spelling/grammar flames.

- 109 to post that this list is not about light bulbs and to please take
this post to alt.lite.bulb.

- 203 to demand that cross posting to alt.grammar, alt.spelling and
alt.punctuation about changing light bulbs be stopped.

- 111 to defend the posting to this list saying that we all use light bulbs

1 smart-???? asking if they're the same as a light globe (usually a Skew-somethin'r'other :roll:)

15 posts recommending upgrading to fluorescents

25 posts showing pristinely restored brass hurricane lamps and candle roses.

80 posts warning of the dangers of changing your own and recommending an electrician

1 post from a geek saying that LED driven downlights are the way of the future

10 debating the legality of changing your own light bulbs

5 posts containing gory pictures showing digital damage due changing light bulbs incorrectly

255 commiseration posts in response to the above 5 posts

1 post in response saying "HAHA! Serves you right for not hiring an electrician to change it."

1 post referring to the last poster as an idiot.

50 posts between the last two posters, having a mutual abuse session.

1 post by the moderator, locking the thread.

and one from me accusing you all of being too nanny state/politically correct and the only way to change a light globe is with the power ON! (and wet hands..)

Then a whole hundred more with pics of pretty timber framed light globe shades and fabulous hand carved ceiling roses, which in turn gives rise to the wwf cieling rose challenge.

What about the posts debating edison vs bayonet and the ones claiming light bulbs made before 1950 were much better because they had quality brass.

And the correct news group is not "alt.lite.bulb" but rather alt.LIGHT.bulb. :)
