Am 3/4 finished a desk built of Tasmanian Blackwood with feature drawer fronts and desktop inlay of Bird's Eye Maple bonded to 12mm ply. I want to finish the whole thing for durability, but don't want a 'hard' poly finish. What do you recommend that will give deep 'velvety' look, and also possibly gain some patina as it ages?
