I CAN'T stand it any more.
What does ECCA actually mean?
I have found
"European Car Club Australia"
"Evening and Community College Association"
But I doubt that would be correct.
PLEASE get me out of my misery.

Blimey mate, call yaself a Cane Toad and you don't know what the EKKA is. Exhibition or The Royal Agricultural Show, all things once good for young folk, Jimmy Sharman's boxing troupe beating the big drum outside of his tent in sideshow alley could be heard easily at the Hospital across the road, flavoured milk in cardboard cartons, pink ice cream with a strawberry on top in a round cone, showbags, Tasmanian Potato Chips cooked fresh and hot, the sugarcane industry stand in the main pavillion, arhhhhhhhhh the memories.

And fortunately, being Queensland, it hasn't changed. Yesterday we turned off the latest episode of The Sullivans, loaded an esky with bottles of Tab and sandwiches, grabbed a box of Bex in case one of us gets a headache, piled into the FJ, paid our 7 shillings and had the day of our lives. Mind you, I'm glad we took the Bex, Jimmy Sherman 's drumming just never stopped....

Why do people say Queensland when they mean Brisbane?

Because the most ugly part is the most visible.

Bit like Melbourne and Victoria, sidinee and NSW....

Understatement of the year:

"...Ekka, due to the phenomenon in Australian English (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_English) of shortening lengthy words."

Banana Benders have been replaced by the "Cane Toad" moniker, as there are more of them in QLD then bananas. You want to see Ugly, check out Tennant Creek in the NT, Port Hedland and Wickham in WA.

QLD was Banana Benders then went to Cane Toads
NSW = Corn Stalks
VIC = Gum Suckers
SA = Crow Eaters
WA = Sandgropers
NT = Old Territorians
ACT = Fat Galahs
TAS = Tasweigans

These were taken from a book I use to have but was loaned out and never given back, full of old bush yarns and bull s**it stories and sayings.
