G DAY Mates, I am new to the forum,I live in Virginia and I love woodworking and woodworking tools and machines.I am currently a trackman for the railroad.I lay rail, ties,work on bridges and clean up train derailments.I have several antique tools and woodworking machines,but there all in storage as we speak.I look forward to posting and talking with everyone,I hope to be a positive member of this group.Thank you all for letting me be a part of it.

In Aus we call ties "sleepers. As a young man my father felled trees with an axe and croscut saw and made railway sleepers using a a broad axe.He also worked with the broad axe to make bridge girders Almost to the day he died he would square up any posts or beams with his broadaxe.

G'day, Don, and welcome aboard. Once you get accustomed to the lingo and metric dimensions, and even if you don't, you'll fit right in with this mob.

You can modify your UserCP with more specific location, if you like. I lived in Northern Virginia for many years myself, now only visit my brother there.

Cleaning up train derailments sounds very interesting. I used to refer to complex problems as a little like repairing a locomotive under way: Technically interesting, but not much fun. I think we'd all like to see some pictures, if permissible by the powers that be.

Yeah Welcome mate, Dingo must have been a bit flustered it's TED Bullpit, he's an Icon in the Aussie History Books (For blokes anyway), This mob is pretty interesting when you learn the Lingo and get a grip on the Aussie sense of humour.
