I note that the post by wheeling round at 7.26 (my time) 5th August in Announcements, Special Delivery does not appear in the "New Posts" listing for me.
Is that because I have already opened the post?

I have been seeing wierd things in NEW POSTS too. I assumed it was just how the new board worked, but it is not what I am used to. I am used to seeing all recent posts in new posts regardless of whether I have read the thread or not - but unread ones are bolded. Now all I see are new and unread ones. Anything that is new and also read doesn't appear in the list at all.
Come to think of it - there has also been a change in what is marked as read in the normal forum view too. I am used to seeing posts that I didn't read in previous days being marked as read anyway - the only bold ones used to be posts that I had not read that day. I guess it assumed (correctly) that anything I didn't read last time I logged on was not a thread I particularly wanted to read, and would only highlight threads where there had been new posts added since I was here last. To me that is a better way to do it.

notice something similar too.
I'll start a new thread. Hit new posts and my new threads not there.....Think it hasn't worked, but it is there, cause when I search for it, it comes up.

I think it is a new "feature". If you posted, you've read it, and read posts aren't listed as "new posts".
Try "iSpy" - it'll show them.

Yes, this seems to be a new "feature." And "New Posts" now defaults to a maximum value of about 500 posts, even though "You last visited" may be way up on the list; only about 150 for my daily visits.
Ispy is also much more dynamic and immediate than before, including a fade-out at the bottom of the list to indicate vanishing accessibility.
"Today's Posts" is more like the old "New Posts," but there's an advisory regarding threads not updated since your last visit. I've switched to "Today's posts" for familiarity, and just posted a reply to a "not updated" thread, which I'd missed earlier.

Hi John,
Up on the menu bar on the right hand side is a link - Quick Links - with a down arrow next to it. Click on the down arrow and click on Today's Posts.
cheers

I'm with Joe, I now use Todays posts rather than New posts. I have noticed that these new u beaut features are not on the Renovation forum and I can still use New Posts over there, so who knows??

Read this Thread (http://www.woodworkforums.com/showthread.php?t=76239) which is a sticky at the top of FORUMS INFO, HELP, DISCUSSION & FEEDBACK.
I have added to it this morning to try and explain it yet again.

The advisory about threads not updated in "Today's Posts" can still be taken with a grain of salt. Apparently, my recent offline preparation of a long reply exceeded the automatic logout time, and "You last visited" got boosted, which seems to affect the advisory. I did apologise for the long reply, though.
1st at Oxford? Not likely (yet).
