Neil, the Friday Thread does not appear in "New Posts". I am signed into the Drivel Forum. Any reason or a whoopsie:U

Becoz we're banished to the Ice Cave and are a detriment and outcasts to the rest of the Forum. :U

Pay attention you blokes....
The only thing that appears in New Posts now is NEW posts.
If you have just looked at the Friday thread or any other thread, & then hit the New Posts button, you won't see it.

'tis the same for New Subscriber Threads in your User CP.

I seemto be having a similar problem using Firefox 3 if I reply to a post its not showing up in New Posts and often not in iSpy.

It seems its the modern way. If you've replied it you don't need to look at it again. It doesn't come back on to new posts until SOMEONE ELSE has replied to it.:shrug I like to know where something is gone though and often can't remember which section something came from especially if I looked at it in "new Posts".:(

I think it is. If you put a reply in the "not a joke...." for instance it doesn't come back onto the "new posts" until someone else puts a reply. But you can look at it in the "Joke section" (or where ever it is.) But I wish it did go back into the new posts because then I know what I have done.

If you want to see everything that has been posted including read threads use Today's Post from the Quick Links drop down box on the toolbar

I'm not signed up for the drivel forum, so I shouldn't see any new posts for it anyway, but TL's remark rang a bell, so here I am. This could probably just as well be posted in another current thread, but I can't decide which.

I'm with TL about remembering what I've done, especially if it was two or three posts back.

In addition to the new absence of 'posts read' without highlighting, it seems "New Posts" is more like "Today's Posts" or worse; tops out at near 500 (explained recently as a default). Normally, "New Posts" is closer to about 150, and 24-hour "Today's Posts" not a whole lot more.

And, I just noticed some bizarre results in direct access to some forums. Highlighting seems unrelated to actual accessing history, and boundaries of the highlighted and non-highlighted look like there's an arbitrary time region.

All depends, I guess, on one's mode of logout too. In another current thread, Neil said something about staff workload, so it might take a few days to return to normal, whatever that really means.

[Son-of-a-something-or-other, "Today's Posts" turns the trick, more or less. Might have to retire "New Posts" for a while.]

I agree with TL and Joe it lets you see that it has been completed and gone through to the server all to often posts/threads dont make it for what ever reason. Seeing it in New Posts lets you know you have successfully completed it.

To do it the new way would mean having another window open with iSpy maybe showing so you could see whats happening as we go through pages of new posts.

iSpy is a lot faster and more dynamic than it used to be, but what's with the fade-out at the bottom? Maybe with dynamic update, it signals fleeting accessibility before they fall off the list?

I don't understand the "Drivel forum" thing either.:? The driveler's group has nothing to do with the "Friday Thread" does it? And how do you know what the Friday thread is? Do you need a special password? :?:hmm:

The Friday thread went off the rails about a year ago, and got sort of banished into its own world. I think it might be in "Woodies Stuff" "What a Load of Drivel," and yes, you need a special password. Not too hard to figure out, actually.

Correct.

:oo: :U Look, look, I'm correct. Must print it out and put it on the frig.

So you have to apply for a password? Is it worth it then? Or is it just the other place?:?

No need to apply TL, have a look at the last link in this Sub-Forum via this link (http://www.woodworkforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=7)
