G'day all,

I have some timber Lamps that has a very thin coat of clear estapol (i think it would have been sprayed) and i would like to remove it so that i can stain the timber and then re-coat with clear to match some other furniture in the room.

Can anyone offer some suggestions how best to do this. I am using Wattyl Interior Stain (Colorwood) followed by Wattyl Water Based Satin Estapol Clear. :D

Depending on exactly what the finish is, the product I most often use is called ModoStrip - it's imported by Modostuc:

2 -4 Marion St Coburg VIC 3058 (03) 9354 7460

Mario Fiorentino is the owner and a good bloke - I "think" it may be available in WA through one of the chains, though am not sure.... a call would confirm.

The reason I use it is outcome and cost - it has the same active ingredients as selleys stripper though in far higher concentrate,(so is a lot faster acting) and when I bought it last, a 4 litre container was about the same price as the .5 litres of Selleys.

Washup is metho, as is "treatment" of timber after stripping.....a very well ventilated area is required as well. There are other strippers and a product called Cooper's, which depending on what the actual finish is, could work as well ..... though I know Cooper's is exxie with a single architectural door costing more than $160 to strip DIY!
