George Pell media frenzy

The Catholic Church seems to have its share of dirty laundry and as we in Sydney approach World Youth day celebrations it is interesting to see the shyte come out of the woodwork. The latest is George Pell running backwards and forwards over a badly behaved priest. http://www.abc.net.au/am/content/2008/s2298363.htm

Am I getting cynical or is the timing of this a bit suss? I know the pope had a hard time in the US facing abuse survivors and I dont know if he will do the same here. The attack is on Pell as the franchisee and fair enuff. Still its the timing.....

Remindsme of the tale of the priest getting ready to retire so the church sent a young priest in training to take over from him,so the first confessional he takes the confessor says to him
"Forgive me father for I have sinned"
"What are your sins",replies the young priest.
"I have had sex with an underage woman",replies the confessor
The young priest is rather befuddled at this and not knowing what to do he sneaks out of the confession box and spies the old priest in the garden tending his roses.
"Father,I have a problem,what do you usually give for having sex with an underage woman?" ,he asks the old priest.
"Usually two mars bars and a bottle of coke'',replies the old priest.

I watched Pell on the 7:30 report last night. I think he answered the questions satisfactorily. I'm no fan of the Catholic Church either.
