Groovers , I'm after a non yellowing clear finish for some decopauge(spelling?) that is on the cards in the near future. I haven't had much experience with nitro. I was thinking about the 'crystal clear' acrylic from wattyl. What is everyones opinion? Damien.

The solvents in lacquers would play havoc with decoupage.

The best water based clear I have found is cabots crytal clear floor finish, it cures very hard

I have also been happy with the solva paints water based clear which is a bit softer than the cabots and a lot cheaper. Probably perfect for decoupage.

Wattyl use to make a product called speed clear , the daughters used it for a year 12 decoupage over 10 years ago and still no yellowing , however they stopped making it as the shelf life wasnt good they now make another water baser finish that is supose to be as good but with a better shelf life , have used it on timber for the first time 6 months ago and it seams ok so :2tsup: but will it will yellow in the long term :?
