A friend of mine has recently bought a spa...I looked at the electrical specs and the power consumption of the pump and heater combined is rated at 50 amps (single phase)!
He also has ducted reverse cycle aircon, the house is about 6 years old and has an underground single phase service run.
I told him he'll need to get an electrician in to do a separate run from the meter box to the spa. My questions are though, for single phase can you have a 50 amp run to power it (I've lived in houses that have 16amp runs for airconditioners) ?
And also is a standard (if there is such a thing) underground service run able to cope with that sort of load, given that he's also got a 3 hp aircon as well ?
