Fixing sheets of stone pebbles to water feature

I am incorporating a water feature onto a blue board wall in our pergola area that is currently in progress. I sealed the back of the blueboard that will be (minimally) exposed to the weather with sealer/undercoat and 2 coats of Solarguard.

I have coated the front of the blue board that will have water running down it with Gripset 51 to stop water penetration and now need to fix the sheets of stone pebbles (each sheet is 30cm x 30cm) to this board.

The Gripset info says it can be used as an adhesive in wet areas, but I am concerned at the time it will take to set and am not confident it will hold the weight of the stone sheets.

I was considering using a render mix with some Gripset thrown in and pressing the stone sheets into it- again the issue is ensuring everything stays in place on the vertical surface while it sets.

Any advice on what will work? Thanks

I have always used a flexible tile adhesive that is compatable with the wall you are fixing it too. The quick setting type makes it alot easier as the sheets like to slide down the wall, even if they are sitting on another sheet they will fold up under their own weight so you need to hold them onto the wall until the adheasive has gone off enough to hold them. Down side of this is that you only get about three sheets out of each batch you mix so it is time consuming.

Use a non slump tile adhesive designed for wet areas, it's the same stuff they use on pool tiles, it's more expensive than normal adhesive, around $40 a bag, that will do between 6 - 8m2.

Yes, a loose webbing with a dob of glue holding each piece.

Have now got some Davco SE7 and Davelastic to use as adhesive - I am told this is what they use in swimming pools so should do the job. Hopefully the adhesive will address the concerns I have regarding how well the glue on the webbing would have held it all together without some major help.
