Last year we had a "friend of a friend" who works at a cabinetmaking place, start to re-do our kitchen. Everything was removed and he built new cabinets and started to put in new benches.
All of a sudden he decided he didn't want to finish the job and we never heard from him again - we haven't been able to contact him for months and months and we have realised that he isn't coming back. :o
So we have a kitchen that's unfinished and my hubby is not at all "handy"!
Can anybody recommend someone who could finish the job for us?
We need splashbacks put in, the benches need 'fixing' and joining together, the cabinets would probably need to be properly "squared" up and a couple of doors put on and adjusted.
We have had a couple of cabinetmakers out but one reluctant to finish off someone elses job off and the other thought it was just a day job or the job is too far away. (we are in Thornlie).
I don't know what else to do! :~ Any advice would be appreciated.
Regards
Tamakai

I would try and find a kitchen installer. There is at least one kitchen company here that don't do any installation - they have a list of licenced tradesmen who do that and you contract separately for the installation. An installer is used to taking the completed cabinets and adjusting them to be square and level and adding benches and doors etc. You would run into trouble if the cabinets didn't fit or something, because there's noone to go back to to have them remade.

Find your local TAFE training college, ask one of the TRADE teachers if they can recommend an apprentice that can fininsh it for you. Having completed my apprenticeship last year I know how much apprentices like to do cash jobs. Just because they aren't a tradie just yet doesn't mean they can't do the work, it is after all the trade they are learning.
