I'm doing some landscaping for a client and she's just had a fence put up and painted by the builder about a month ago. I know the builder and his work generally is top notch.

But the paintwork on the front fence is showing some marking - see photos.

I don't know what sort of wood they used, and I don't know what sort of paint, although they left some so I may be able to find out.

Any ideas what's caused it? And how to cover it up?

The timber may have been too green and wet when it was painted and now it's bleeding. Looks like hardwood posts from the photo. Clould take a long while to dry out now that it is painted.

MAybe the timber is iron bark heh heh!

I think I would paint the affected timbers with some Bitkote then repaint - if the paint is acrylic based paint. If it is enamel paint then maybe I'd try one of stain lock paints like Zinsser.

It may have rained after the fence had been painted causing the paint to bleed.
