Island bath ?

Does anyone know if there is a minimum distance requirement between the wall and the edge of an island bath?

I have a bathroom width of approx 1600mm (flexible, the walls aren't in yet). The island bath is 1500mm. So there would only be 50mm of island at each end of the bath. Is this too little?

Or, is it possible to install the 1500mm island bath as an inset bath somehow? ie: the walls would be touching the bath on 3 sides, with no island setting.

I am unsure what you mean by an island bath ..... is it a fully freestanding unit?

Sorry, no not freestanding. An island bath sits on a tiled "island"; the bath doesn't have tiling bead edge so it can't be set right into the wall - it has to be away from the wall. For example:

Thanks - I do not believe there would be any distance requirements for a bath like this.... aesthetics would govern its placement I reckon

Whilst there is no regulated distances between bath and walls, 100mm is the recommended minimum for ease of cleaning and appearance.

I believe it will also make installation easier in regards to sealing the gap between the bath rim and the top of the hob.

The pic from the Reece catalogue you linked to shows the bath fixed with walls on one end and a side and the shower screen on the other end...on that basis it would appear you could locate anywhere with a slightly wider hob width if necessary.

you could put a bath in the middle of your lounge room if your heart so desires. if it is tiled in then you wont have too many worries about cleaning, if its in a surround like a couple of the kaldewi ones then i would say buy a bath and fit it in your own solid surround
