Hi all, I just resheeted a ceiling and got a mate to set it.

Whats the best way to paint it so it will last?

I was told to paint all the plaster joins with a sealer, then paint the whole ceiling with a sealer, then paint ceiling white. Is this right ?

please enlighten me

any tips on brands of paint would be nice too.

For paint, I like Dulux 101.

Hi Daren
Any quality ceiling white will do the trick. The secret is not to use a cheap low quality paint. A good sealer should do the job with only one coat which means you don't have to coat the joints first. Just one coat of sealer with a light sand followed by two coats of ceiling white. Always make sure each coat is dry before applying the next coat.

Use a premium acrylic sealer undercoat from dulux or wattyl. Seal the joins and the plaster in one go. Allow 2-3 hours to dry. Then lightly rub the area removing any grit. Then apply 2 coats of a good premium sealing flat acrylic.
