Painting/electrical safety

I'm painting the front of our place and was just wondering what I do around the electricity supply point. Do I need to disconnect or anything or do I just rely on the insulation around the cables to do its thing and not fry me. I'm intending on painting pretty close to the connection point and the missus would be pretty mad if I electrocuted myself before I go the job finished.

Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere but I had a dig about and couldn't find anything.

I reckon you'd be pretty right painting in that area, as the rules and Regs are pretty well enforced for connection points to houses....ie, there probably wont be any bare wires in that area, Just normal precautions are required......like don't hang off the wiring.....keep your tongue out of the left side of your mouth.....check the insurance policy.....enrol your wife in a CPR course......:U

For painting close to the supply point you could use one of the cheap (about $3.50) radiator paintbrushes available from Bunnings. The handles are about 400mm long and the brushes are set at about 45 degrees angle to the handle and this will give you extra reach without getting too close.
