View Full Version : Can I tile over new render immediately?

Following on from my last thread "tiling over brickwork" : After such great advice from members of this forum, I am considering getting the wall rendered, then tiling.

(the wall is above the join where the new slab meets the existing brick wall. I imagine that a dark, damp, little 19mm cavity between villaboard and the brick wall - with damp little pine batons - would be a very appealing walkway for termites to crawl up to my roof space)

Can anyone help with info re: how long I need to leave the render before getting it waterproofed and tiled?

Cheers

Check the instructions on the water proofing container. It will say that you more than likely have to wait until all the moisture is out of the float/render. (read instructions)

That should be about 2-3 days.

most tile adhesives require render to be allowed to set/dry for at least 7 days
