Does anyone know of a good method of cleaning oil drips from the car (power steering fluid) off the concrete pavers in my carport ? Theres a area of about a square meter concerned. :?

Cover heavily with lime and pour on some kero on till its nice and wet, leave for a week or two, broom up and hit the area with strong detergent. That's what I've been told by a bricklayer.

I've never been patient enough to try that approach, I usually just rip the guts out of the stain by liberally shaking caustic soda over it and misting lightly with just enough water to get the caustic to dissolve. Pressure wash off an hour or so later. Don't get it on your skin/plants/grass/pets.

The caustic soda stuff, is that the same stuff you put down to unclog the pipes with. That sounds pretty good and fast. If it doesn't get it all off I will do the Lime trick.

Yes, but you need to dilute the oil before you use the kitty litter....

I was told to use the following ON GRANITE TILES (worked for me)
try it if everything else fails

Apply a liberal coat of white king bleach over stain, then put cotton wool over bleach, press firmly down. Leave on for 10 to 15 minutes, lift & rinse, if need be repeat. This will remove the stain.

Thats interesting. Granite would be porous like pavers are. Looks like I got a few recipes to try if one fails, go to the next.
Any other oil removers, anyone ?
Neil.

get yourself some oven cleaner and spray on the area mentioned wait a while and wash off or scrub a bit then wash off. (this is basically same as the Caustic soda recipie), so please take note of all precautions on the can as this stuff must be used with care!!! great for grease and oil though.have fun scrubbing.
