I am installing polyester insulation in an internal wall cavity, for sound insulation. The research seems to suggest that it is as good as Rockwool (and far more comfortable to use)
It comes in a long roll 640mm wide.
It is wasteful to cut each piece to the exact size (to fit between studs, noggings etc).
It is tempting to use two off-cuts butted up together, in some places. They seem to fit tightly, and the fibres seem to mesh in together a bit.
Does this affect the sound insulation effectiveness?
Any advice greatly appreciated.
