Australia Post parcel deliver times

I've posted some stuff from Queensland to Western Australia as a regular parcel, but it still hasn't arrived 4 weeks later.

Has anybody got experience to share on what the (real) expected delivery time would be. I guess an 8kg box is going road freight from Qld to WA and possibly not by a direct route.

Whenever I have had stuff sent regular post from QLD to here it has taken about 7 working days but sometimes only 3.

I just waited 3.5 weeks for the same size from WA to Sydney, not happy,

A lot of stuff we send and receive through work from WA to East coast normally takes anytime between 5-7days.

However, I had my aunt send me a birthday card once through Aussie Post.

Should have gone from Sydney to Sydney at the time, but ended up going from Sydney to Saudi Arabia back to Sydney.

Through that, I got a marriage proposal from a Sheik.

I'm pretty sure it was obvious by the card that I was only turning 12!!!!

Apparently he owned quite a few oil wells. Now, the value of those would have come in handy for the damned renovations.

If you posted the article at a Post Office and have a receipt, you can put in a claim with Australia Post, and they may refund you some of the article cost, and some of the postage, depending on the value. They are usually pretty good and will search for the parcel through all the route it would have taken, and keep in touch with you and the person it was addressed to, as they go. It sometimes doesn't find your article, but may compensate for some of the monetary value.

Hi SandpaperMan, Does that apply to regular parcels? it wasn't registered so no tracking code or insurance.

Fuzzie, call Australia Post on 13 13 18 and have all the details and receipt if you still have it on hand. While you're on the phone with them they'll try and track it down for you. I have had something similar happen to me.

I sent a prepaid 3kg satchel to WA once and after 2 weeks the person emailed me stating that they hadn't received it, so I rang AP and they were able to track its movements even thought it wasn't registered or express post, every parcel is tracked it seems. Anyway it turns out that the parcel had arrived at the correct PO but they had forgotten to card it and notify the person that it had arrived, so I then email him back saying that it was at the PO waiting to be picked up and all was solved.
