i am having trouble narrowing down searches - not sure whether its me ot limitations of the search engine.

if i want to search a phrase like "water resisitant" i will get all posts with "water" and all posts with "resistant"

is there any way to create an exact phrase search? like "applying Danish oil" which will find posts with that complete phrase and not all posts containing any of those 3 words. even being able to search for posts with all words would be a step in the right direction.

I have heard of google search on the forum but it fails to materialise in my browser [firefox]

Try with Googles site: search.
Go to Google and type site: then the url of the site to search, no spaces,
then a space and the search terms, like this

site:www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com.au (http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com.au) "water resistant"

To search for the exact phrase, put double quotes around the search terms.

Theres a few other handy Google searches, like define:

define: "water resistant"

and convert

convert 10 cubic yards to cubic metres

I was able to make it work after going to advanced search in Google.

I'm new to this site but it seems to me that it would be handier if you could do these searches from the forum instead of loading a new browser with GOOGLE, going to advanced search, entering the site then the thing you are looking for in double quotes.

Any plans for a search engine update?

Go to the bottom of any page any you will find a Google Search box/ Check the radio button next to www.woodworkforums.com (http://www.woodworkforums.com) then type in "water resistant" with the quotes. You'll get a heap of relevant replies.

For now this only works if you are using the wiki-blog default or ubeaut skins found on the bottom Navigation bar (left side)

Cheers - Neil :)
