I'll be installing a Marbletrend Project shower base and am building the walls but don't have the base as yet (on order).

If anyone's installed one of these, I'd like to know the height of rebate in wall studs, depth is 20mm. Also, whether size quoted (eg 900) is overall size of base.

Thanks

I agree with arms... Wait...get the base first..

However, I just installed a Marbletrend base (Project corner). The base height is about 85mm but the height of the recess in the studs I did at 150mm.

Remember that hardest thing (in my one-off experience) was laying the mortar bed, getting it level, and then lowering the base onto the mortar bed. (I constructed a make-shift pulley system to lower the base onto the bed).

In the process of lowering the base onto the mortar bed you have to allow extra height in the stud or else it will be difficult to install. 150mm worked out well for me.

If you are inexperienced in doing this (as I am) doing a few practice runs lowering the base helps. (Particualrly if the base is being installed in a corner.)

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies. :2tsup:

I agree that I should have the base on hand too, but needed to construct exterior wall to 'lockup' new ensuite area.

I contacted Marbletrend who faxed me specific dimensions for the base (good on them). Interior walls will go in after base is in place so it's only the now-constructed exterior wall which may need adjustment, no problem as there won't be interior lining.

I've done a couple of shower installs but not for a long while.
