not quite sure how to tackle this

wipe really thin coat, allow to dry, sand and reapply

or

wipe on heavy coat and wipe off after a few minutes, allow to dry, sand and repeat

i am using feast & watson scandinavian oil
i would like to have a crack at cabots as well
i cant find rustins or watco [most recomended] locally - bayswater vic

I would flood it and wipe off in 30 minutes

Sand it with fine wet and dry (1000 grit or higher) either by hand or with a ROS

Buff with a clean cloth

Not an expert though. (not by far):-
