Cutting Bricks

I have to cut bricks back to being flush against the wall (as per attached pic)

What is the best way to do this and what cutting implement would be bale to do this? Thanks...

To get it flush to the wall I'd use a 9" angle grinder with a diamond blade. Come in at a slight angle from either side to meet in the middle. You'd end up with the cut bricks flush in the middle and raised towards the edges (like a "M" shape). I'd then change to a diamond grinding "cup" to grind the remainder flat. You'll make lots of dust and noise though, so wear the appropriate PPE (safety gear).

I have a Diamond disk grinder but some time ago I used to use Silicon Carbide grinding disk to sand back to the face.

Be sure to be using the appropriate platform. Wear full face protector mask.

9 Inch grinders are to be respected with the up most of care.

I wouldn't go near a carborundum blade to cut masonry now.

Do you intend on keeping the painted face?

Another possibility if you are hesitant in using a 9 inch is 5 inch.

If you snap the brick resulting in concave to the face you could mock the brick and paint over it.
